The only way it will work is to allow independent writers to submit to these new publications. If not, everyone else will become almost nonexistent and people are going to leave in staggering numbers if their content is no longer promoted. I wouldn’t be surprised if the MPP is phased out and the only way to make money is publishing in the chosen publications. I think they believe people will continue to support Medium but I think they are making a mistake.
