The Happy Weight
How I Shed Those Extra LBs

I don’t diet. I do not hop onto the latest weight loss fad. I make small changes when I notice those extra pounds attacking my hips. I fluctuate between being right at a comfortable weight to being 5 to 10 pounds over.
My clothes still fit, I just have a little less wiggle room. My cheeks become fuller and my chest feels heavier. It’s that heavier feeling that makes me want to lose those few extra pounds. I just feel better without them.
When do these extra pounds creep up on me? When I am happy. When everything is going smooth and all is well, I gain weight because I eat when I am feeling good. So, those few pounds means that things are going great overall.
Still, I want to lose them.
My Regimine
To shed those unwanted pounds I decrease my carb intake, eat more protein, step up my exercise game, and trade the mocha Frappuccinos for water. It’s not a diet, it’s just what I do.
My body tells me that being thin isn’t a recipe for happiness. This feeling comes from the inside. So, I focus on my health, feeling good, and I don’t obsess over the numbers too much.
I focus on the benefits of the small changes which makes it easier. Drinking water is better for my teeth and energy. Those sugar laden specialty coffees can wreak havoc on a smile.
Exercise also increases my energy and makes falling to sleep easier.
I Embrace My Flaws
There are some things that we can never change with all the money and doctors in the world. That is okay because our imperfections are what make us beautiful and unique.
When I was 2 1/2 years old, I had a benign tumor removed and the scar on my stomach is pretty gnarly. It’s a scar that I am grateful for. That scar reminds me of how blessed I am to be alive. That gratitude for life outshines any insecurities I may have.
I Don’t Keep Up With The Kardashians
I don’t keep up with the Kardashians but I can tell you my favorite Real Housewife from any of the franchise cities though. Social media promotes a distorted image of reality. So, I know cosmetic surgery and filters are the reasons so many celebrities look flawless. I’m more attracted to natural looks so I do not succumb to the wax eyebrows and pounds of makeup look, not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s just not me.
This is just a peek into my world and how I manage to shed a few pounds when I need to. The problem is how to maintain the weight. It’s too easy for me to slip back into the Starbucks line on a regular basis and start the cycle all over again.
